This terracotta relief slab represanting Asclepius The God of Medicine. Asclepius is a hero and god of medicine in ancient Greek religion and mythology. He is the son of Apollo and Coronis, or Arsinoe, or of Apollo alone. Asclepius represents the healing aspect of the medical arts. Kiln-fired and hand-finished, it brings out clean contours and subtle shadows reminiscent of classical wall plaques.
Technique: terracotta (earthenware) clay is shaped, slowly dried, and kiln-fired, then hand-patinated for a warm, archaeological tone with gentle highlights.
