Decorate your home with a handmade Greek Oinochoe from Rhodes, featuring a warm yellow background inspired by 5th–6th century B.C. pottery. The Oinochoe, a traditional ancient Greek wine jug, is a key vessel shape in classical ceramic art.
One side depicts Phaethon, son of Helios. In Greek mythology, Phaethon sought proof of his divine father and insisted on driving the sun chariot for a day. Unable to control the fiery horses, he caused chaos in the heavens and on earth. To prevent further destruction, Zeus struck him with a thunderbolt, and Phaethon fell to his death — a dramatic symbol of youthful ambition and the danger of hubris.
The reverse side illustrates Zeus as a swan with Leda, one of the most famous mythological scenes. Disguised as a swan, Zeus approaches Leda, who later becomes mother to Helen of Troy, Polydeukes, Castor, and Clytemnestra, connecting this artwork to the legendary heroes and epics of ancient Greece.
A striking collector’s piece that brings classical mythology and ancient Rhodes pottery style to life.
