The **pseudostomos amphora** (“false-mouthed”) is distinguished by its closed vertical neck, with liquid poured instead from a spout on the side.
**Minoan pottery** (c. 2600–1100 BCE) from Bronze Age Crete is celebrated for its colorful designs, dynamic forms, and natural motifs. Early Minoan ceramics displayed spirals, triangles, curved lines, crosses, fish bones, and beak-spouts. During the Middle Minoan period, naturalistic designs of fish, squid, birds, and lilies became common. In the Late Minoan period, artists expanded their repertoire with diverse floral and animal decorations. This amphora embodies that evolution of style and the Minoans’ deep connection with nature and the sea.
