An exquisite piece of ceramic heritage, this amphora, a tall storage and transport jar for oil, wine, or grain. Executed in the Black-figure style that flourished in Attic workshops between the 7th and 5th centuries BCE. The principal scene portrays iliad battle scene over patroclus body. On the reverse, the amphora presents Killing Penthesilea,Achilles steps to right, bearded, with long tresses, fully armed, high-crested helmet and short striped chiton, and has beaten down the Amazon queen Penthesilea on one knee, and plunges spear into her throat This piece references a documented original and associated with Museum).
