Red-figure vase painting is one of the most important styles of figural Greek vase painting. It developed in Athens around 520 BC and remained in use until the late 3rd century BC. Its modern name is based on the figural depictions in red colour on a black background, in contrast to the preceding black-figure style with black figures on a red background.

First side: Hephaestus presents Thetis with armour for her son Achilles. The divine smith holds a hammer in one hand and a helm in the other. Thetis holds a shield and spear, and a pair of greaves hang from the wall beside her. The painting illustrates a scene from Homer's Iliad. Hephaestus was the Greek god of blacksmiths, metalworking, carpenters, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metallurgy, fire, and volcanoes.
Second side: It is shows God Dionysus the God of wine, the grape vine, fertility, festivity, ecstasy, madness and resurrection. Patron god of the art of theatre.
